How Do I Find My Color?

HOW DO I FIND MY COLOR?

We highly recommend purchasing a sample set to find your color. Sending photos, descriptions, and comparable cosmetics will not get the job done. Here’s Why:

1. Ada foundations are not formulated to just match the outer color. Looking at the outer color of the makeup may or may not help with selection.

2. Ada Cosmetics uses proprietary, revolutionary techniques to create makeup that is better suited to the needs of women of color. The color palette range has no equal on the market.

3. The unique foundation colors are designed to blend with your undertones. Everyone has a mixture of these. Knowing what your undertones are does not guarantee that a particular shade will be your best choice.

4. Most people can wear at least 2 or 3 shades of Ada foundations. Because of this, the selection of foundation is really a matter of choice.

5. Sometimes women just want a change or to add interest to their appearance. We recommend trying different shades and asking friends, family, or friendly strangers for their reaction or opinion.

6. Everyone’s color changes with the seasons, hormone & stress levels, water intake, age, etc. Very few people stay the same color. With a sample set, you may find that you prefer one shade for day and another for evening. During certain times, you may want to mix 2 shades.  This makes it a good idea to hold on to your sample set even after you've chosen your foundation and blush.

7. Every sample set has some overlapping colors of the next sample set. So it is hard to select the wrong set. However, here are some loose guidelines:

Medium/Dark: These colors suit women who are in the range of Michelle Obama, Angela Basset, Oprah Winfrey, Iman, Grace Jones, and the deepest of dark skin tones in the African Diaspora.

Light: These colors suit women who are in the range of Halle Berry, Queen Latifah, Raven Simone, Beyonce, and many women of mixed heritage, or Hispanic, Asian, East Indian or Mediterranean decent.

Fair: These colors suit women who are in the range of Gwyneth Paltrow, Cher, and anyone who appears to be lighter than Halle Berry.

8. If there is any difficulty finding your color, there are a few possible reasons. Using different mineral powder brushes produce different effects. The brushes we sell are not just high quality, but they provide the best results with Ada Cosmetics.

Another common condition is dry skin. Even people with oily skin, can have dry their skin out with excessive use of atringents. For these conditions, we recommend a good cleansing routine that is designed for women of every color.
We offer skin care lines– cleansers, toners, and especially moisturizers on our parent site – Botanical Skin Works http://www.botanicalworks.com. Of note is our Oily Skin Face & Body Bar, Dry Skin Bar, Sensitvie Bar, Oil Free Moisturizer, just to name a few.  These products have been very helpful for people who've had trouble finding their color.

9. If all else fails, please do not hesitate to contact us for any additional concerns.
